Born in Novosibirsk, Russia, in 1988, Maxim But, after moving to Moscow, gained experience as a photojournalist, capturing the capital’s nascent culture, which arose in a city embracing new wealth.

In addition to his stunning photography, Maxim is also a filmmaker, primarily producing first-person documentaries.
He studied with photographer Greg Williams (gregwilliams.com/about/) and Alexander Medvedev.
In 2025, he created a series of fine art works, “The Power of Ice, ” many of which were submitted to the HIPA 2025 Power photography competition.
Prints are available in sizes 150×100 cm and 300×100 cm. Material: 1.14 mm gloss aluminum, limited edition.
